DESIGNER AND ILLUSTRATOR
Tell us the story behind the Druids.
I originally started creating the Druids as a form of self-therapy. I would place them around my house to let me know things would be ok. I can get a bit anxious from time to time and I found that they had a calming effect for me. The Druids are made out of concrete and each of them has its own little personality. I’ve been making them for years and still love making them…good vibes!
Share a fond memory you have from The Big Design Market.
Last year, I was so honoured to be the guest artist for the event. The giant floral arrangements we created will always be a fond memory of The Big Design Market. The positive response was overwhelming, and I was really humbled and thankful by the whole experience and everyone involved who helped bring it to life.
Why do you love working and living around Torquay?
I love my studio at Ashmore Arts. It’s a wonderful artist community nestled behind the Torquay township. It has many diverse artists and makers and I couldn’t imagine a better place to spend my days. I’m a fan of living and working in quiet spaces.
What are you most looking forward to doing this summer?
Having a little R&R. The Christmas season and the build-up to it is really busy for me, so I like to take a little time off in January just to recharge the batteries. I love the warmer weather, so I’ll be spending as much time as I can outside in the sun.
Who are some other stallholders you enjoy visiting at The Big Design Market?
I love seeing what Nice Digs is doing and Write To Me. If I’m not at my stand, ya’ll find me hovering around all the food stands for sure.
Three words that describe your work.
Vibrant. Alive. Positive.
